Invited Guests

The Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese has a long history of inviting distinguished scholars and artists to campus. During their residences in Charlottesville, these artists and professors teach graduate seminars, undergraduate courses, creative writing workshops, deliver public lectures, and offer readings of their work, which are free and open to the public. Visiting Professors

Since 1979, the Department has been able to invite some of the world’s greatest scholars and writers to spend a full semester in residence, teaching undergraduate and graduate students, giving lectures and colloquia, and participating in the life of the Department.
