Professor Michael Gerli delivered one of two plenary addresses at the “World Congress on Historians of Power and Historians in Power” on September 20 in Moscow, Russia. The Congress was convened by the Academy of Arts and Sciences and the School for Advanced Studies in the Humanities of the Russian Federation. The title of Professor Gerli’s address was “Imperial Anxieties: Alfonso X of Castile and León and the Ethics of Power.” His newly published collection of studies, The Routledge Companion to Medieval Iberia: Unity in Diversity (London, New York: Routledge, 2021) was also featured at a book presentation on the afternoon of September 22.
