We are excited to announce that the Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese's fourth annual SIP FilmFest will take place during the week of April 18-25. This year's virtual festival “Enough with…! Stories of Resistance,” will explore struggles with inequality, sexism, migration, among others. We will have four films in Spanish, one in Portuguese, one in Italian, and one in Japanese, this year's featured language! You can access the website with all the details here:

The movies will be available to watch whenever you choose between April 18-25. This means that you have more time to watch them!

We will have a Q&A session per language with some of the filmmakers and experts in the fields the movies deal with. These sessions will be held Thursday April 22 to Sunday April 25 on Zoom. Specific details TBA.

All films will be free and open to the general public, and they will be streamed in their original languages with English subtitles.

Please mark your calendars and make this information available to your students and to other interested parties.

Thanks for your renewed support. We will see you and your students virtually at the Festival!

The Spanish Film Club series was made possible with the support of Pragda, SPAIN arts & culture, and the Secretary of State for Culture of Spain; an Arts & Sciences, Diversity and Inclusion Grant; UVA Parents Fund, and UVA Institute of World Languages.
