Fuego Eterno: Soberanías Visuales Exhibition at UVA

The University of Virginia’s Global Spanish initiative presents Fuego Eterno: Soberanías Visuales, an art exhibition running from August 29 to October 10, 2025, in the Ruffin Gallery. Curated by Erika Hirugami with contributions from Federico Cuatlacuatl, the exhibition highlights Indigenous and ancestral lineages across the Americas, the Philippines, and Equatorial Guinea, centering Indigenous voices and challenging colonial narratives.

The exhibition opens with a reception on Friday, August 29, from 5–7 PM. A symposium featuring artists, scholars, and faculty will take place on Thursday, October 9, followed by a lively closing celebration on Friday, October 10, from 5–9 PM, including music, performances, and food.
