Events

The Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese sponsors a variety of cultural, artistic, and academic events, all of which enhance the study and appreciation of the arts and humanities at the University of Virginia. These events allow our students to meet artists and scholars from around the world and engage in meaningful dialogue about concepts that they have studied in the classroom.

Since 1979, we have invited a diverse group of scholars and artists to Grounds. Please consult our visiting faculty page for a list of invited guests.

Thirty seven years of Spanish Theater at the University of Virginia

The history of the Spanish Theater Group at the University of Virginia goes back to 1981. Since then the group has developed an annual activity aimed at producing plays written in Spanish by Spanish and Latin American authors for North American audiences.
