Albemarle High School Community Open House
Translators needed!
Thursday, August 19, 5:00-8:30 PM at Albemarle County High School

All participants will be required to wear masks.
Family entry will be staggered to avoid crowding and safety protocols will be followed.
Please let us know if you can come for part or all of this event to help translate and to pass out information to
multilingual families!

Details:

The Equity Center is partnering with Albemarle High School to bring community resources to their multilingual
families during an open house event, August 19th @ 5 PM.

Different community groups will be in a centralized area in the Albemarle High School building. There will be tables
spread throughout where organizations will provide information about services and resources in the community in
areas such as Youth and Families, Food Security, Immigration, Health, Alternative Transportation, Housing, Jobs and
Wages.

Here’s where you come in. AHS is the high school that has a lot of multilingual families. We are calling on MOVE
volunteers to attend this event, greet families, and orient them in their home language. Some of the languages
represented include Spanish, Thai, Arabic, Pashto, Kinyarwanda, Dari, Nepali, Zulu, and Tagalog, but there are many
more needed and we would love to have your language represented.

The Equity Center and AHS are also planning to print the Street Sheets you all have worked on in each of these
languages and have them available to families!

Once more, the event will take place Thursday, August 19, 5:00-8:30 PM at Albemarle County High School. All
participants will be required to wear masks. Family entry will be staggered to avoid crowding and safety protocols
will be followed.

Please let us know if you can come for part or all this event to help translate and to pass out information to
multilingual families.

Thank you for all you do!

Best,
Liz and Alize
