We Are Here Diversity Festival: April 14, 10-3 pm, IX Park

Please join us for the We Are Here Diversity Festival, a UVA-sponsored initiative which aims to bring the UVA and Charlottesville communities together to create dialogues about diversity through the arts.

The festival will take place on April 14 from 10 am to 3 pm in IX Art Park, and it will feature local artists, performing groups, and non-profit organizations and a variety of activities to raise awareness and engagement about challenges faced by local minority groups.

The main two speakers for the event are:

Susan Bro (2:15-2:35 pm)

Khizr Khan (2:40-3:00 pm)

Our department will have a significant participation in the festival!!

Three of our students will read poems (some of them original) in Spanish and in Italian, and we have received more than 40 poems for the Pick-a-Poem-Booth translated from Spanish into English by students of SPAN 4040, SPAN 3040, and SPAN 2020. One of the poems translated and offered as gift is by Fernando Operé.

We hope to see you at the We Are Here Diversity Festival tomorrow!
